Remember, Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover

I've recently decided to go back to school and take a few courses so I can stimulate my mind. I did everything I needed to do for admissions and I thought I had everything together for financial aid. However, the dreaded financial office pulled a fast one and said that I needed to get a Second Degree form signed by the chairperson of my department.

I print off the necessary form and rush to the political science department for the chairperson signature so I can get my money for school. When I walk into the office I am greeted by Ludacris's "My Chick Bad" song and the receptionist just looking at me. She had blond hair, with red highlights and immediately thought she was unprofessional and would not be much help to me.

I asked her if Dr. Mosely was available to see and she informed me that he was in a meeting. . Through her I found out that Dr. Moseley also had to complete a "Plan of Action" list for me in order to get my financial aid. She assured me that she would help in this task because she understands the stress of financial aid.

I've confered with her several times since the first meeting when I needed my form signed for school. Not only is she professional but she is a great ally to have when I needed any help with school. Meeting her reminded me of the old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Peace,
Brooks

Cuban Revolution

Last week I decided to go on a mini vaction and ended up staying at my parents house in Durham. I've always loved Durham AKA the Bull City. While at home I caught up with some child hood friends and we hung out and partied like we were in high school again.
On Friday night we ended up in the Tobacco District next to the Durham Bull's stadium. The area is very beautiful, especially in the summer. In the tobacco district there are many night spots to hang out, meet people, have a few drinks and have a good ole time. One place in particular is a new restaurant and bar called Cuban Revolution.
Cuban Revolution is very trendy and features some pop art paintings of iconic people during the 1960's. The food is reasonably priced but is just ok. I would mainly go for the drinks and atmosphere. If you're ever in the Bull City I recommend that you stop by the tobacco district.
