A Bad Case of the SGEB

Like many Americans I have recently got a bad case of the SGEB's (Seeking Gainful Employment Blues). I currently serve as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, but I make little money. I can barely live off what I get paid. I'm not complaining, I just know that it is time for a change.

I've been living on the east side of Greensboro for 6 years with students and now that I am no longer a student it's difficult for me to deal with loud music, fights, vandalism, the smell of marijuana, black and milds, and cigarettes. It is time for me to move into a big girl apartment. The type of apartment with quiet neighbors, decorated nicely, and professional men all im my community.

Oh how I LONG to live in the big girl apartment! But in order to live in the big girl apartment, you have to have a big girl money, and that's where the problem lies. And here I sit typing with a case of the SGEB's.

I've been searching for months for gainful employment. Part-time, full-time, retail, clerical, customer service, hospitality...etc I've explored all options. I've updated my resume, wrote the best cover letter a girl could write, but still no jobs.

The seeking gainful employment blues has got me down. Side effects include fatigue from staying up all night completing job applications, random sighs while driving when you see a charming house, and anger while driving because of outrageous gas prices.

If anyone is reading or knows anyone who knows anyone who is hiring please feel free to spread the word. I am the ideal candidate for the job. Self motivated, friendly, dilligent worker, skillful and more I'm everything a potential employer is looking for.

Someone please hire me so I won't have the SGEB's.

Peace & Blessings,
Brooks
